Here, you will find our recommended gear sorted into several categories. Every beginner skateboarder needs a deck, trucks and wheels (sometimes bought as a package), skateboarding shoes and a helmet. You may not see many skateboarders wearing helmets and you probably don’t think it’s very cool, but more and more parks are requiring them. They are also hugely important when you are just starting out.

As a beginner, it is probably your best bet to buy a package until you develop some knowledge on individual bits and pieces. You should go for something in your price range without extending too far. The benefits of really expensive gear will become noticeable as you improve your skill set.
